2009 Clark-Claudon Estate CabernetIN THE WINERYThe vineyard was night harvested on 6 different dates to assure that the fruit from each elevation and exposure reached optimum ripeness. After triple sorting, only perfect berries remained to be cold soaked and then gently fermented for an extended time. As always, each harvest lot was treated separately, in essence creating 6 different wines. These wines were then artistically blended, in just the right proportions, to produce this rare, 2009 Estate Cabernet. Our goal is always to allow the terroir of Clark-Claudon Vineyards to speak through its wines. The 2009 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is a perfect example of an expertly farmed, single, mountain side vineyard with fully expressed fruit. It presents with dark hues and explosive ripe plum, strawberry and dark stone fruit. It then brings a beautiful mouth feel of full bodied texture, lingers with perfect balance and elegance while adding; floral notes, dry herbs and hints of cola to the abundant fruit. This exceptional wine follows with a long finish of dark chocolate, floral notes, spicy oak and plum liquor.
Antonio Galloni's ReviewRobert M. Parker's Wine Advocate # 204 Dec 2012
Plums, menthol and spices are some of the notes that emerge from Clark-Claudon’s 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon. This is an especially soft, supple Cabernet that appears best suited for drinking over the next few years. Sweet, silky tannins frame an attractive, floral-infused finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017. |
